YEAR 2003-THE YEAR OF PRAYER

Praying for revival and missions and also for greater spiritual strength in these difficult days.

"Blow the trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm in my holy mountain".

"Now therefore" says the Lord, "turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning" Joel 2:1,12.

It was almost like a revelation to some of us when the Lord revealed to us that most of the revivals in the world was born in prayer and grew in prayer and when prayer stopped revival also stopped. Not only that, most of the missions in the world came out of revival and when revival dried up, missions also became dry.

In the midst of the several incidents of persecution and attack on Christians in India, unfortunately many Christians are tempted to look at the people who attack than looking towards God. As we remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit, one can clearly see a planned attack of Satan on all Christian activities not only in India but also all over the world. Unfortunately many of us are tempted to blame the political parties and the religious fanatics, instead of seeing the great satanic forces behind the whole program. These people in our nation are all our own brothers and sisters and also people for whom Jesus gave His life on the cross and so "Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Eph.6:12).

In HEM the Lord has recently convicted some of us of our lack of prayer life and decided to have next year as year of prayer. The Lord confirmed this in the last few sessions of our prayer meetings and Bible classes and so we decided to start a chain prayer from Jan.1, till Dec.31, 2001. All our staff, helpers and the believers in the Church at Gorakhpur have signed up for one hour each day. Now I am sending this circular to all our missionaries in various stations and also to all our prayer partners who sincerely love us and pray for us. Will you join us and sign up for at least one hour each day so that the Lord may send us the latter rain in these last days.

Unfortunately many of our people are too busy to spend one hour in prayer. Their spirit is willing; but their flesh will not permit. They wear out their lives and even spend large amounts of money instead of choosing the Lord's plan of prayer.

Please remember this is not a prayer for HEM or India, but a clarion call from the Lord for the whole church for repentance and to revive our prayer life. If you also can join this prayer chain with us at least for one hour a day, we shall appreciate a reply from you as early as possible, and if so please send us your time of choice and also your prayer requests. After hearing from you we will be sending some of our prayer requests also regularly and also the names of the people who will be praying at your time.
